How can selling replacement parts increase a dealer’s bottom line profit? |
Replacement parts offer several benefits. One benefit that is really resonating with customers right now, as their budgets shrink and their sales may be slower, is higher profit margins. More than just profit margins, there are replacement parts suppliers who bring additional value through areas such as dependable delivery, exceptional product selection, one-vendor sourcing for several brands, as well as tools to easily allow you to market your business. Beyond just the parts, each additional value a supplier offers can transfer directly to your bottom line.

What are some common myths about replacement parts?
|
Often times dealers are led to believe that using replacement parts will void their equipment warranty. It does not help that some OEM’s are almost promoting this misconception. However, unless the parts are supplied free of charge, the use of OEM parts cannot be a condition of the equipment warranty. Most replacement parts are manufactured to meet OEM specifications and perform to your customers’ satisfaction. Replacement parts providers are vigilant about maintaining parts performance expectations. Without that quality reassurance, replacement parts companies would not be able to survive and thrive for decades.

How can you upsell replacement parts?
|
You can think of upselling replacement parts just as you upsell OEM parts. When customers bring in equipment for service or commonly replaced maintenance items like air filters, oil and spark plugs, a whole maintenance package can be recommended at the point of service. Keeping all your engine maintenance parts up to date is essential to equipment longevity and overall efficiency. The parts and service will be needed eventually, why not sell them now? Other accessories such as lawn mower covers, fuel stabilizer and safety gear can also be used to prolong the life of your customer’s equipment and ensures their safety during use.
